- Enter the last name. The current public search is built around the inmate’s last name. Spell the name carefully and consider a hyphenated form where applicable.
- Review matching current-custody results. A common surname may return more than one person. Do not assume the first result is the person you need.

The Sheriff currently lists two Pima County jail locations. The main Adult Detention Complex is in Tucson; the Ajo District Jail serves the western part of the county.

Intake May Still Be Underway
Booking, court processing, identification, medical screening and housing assignment can occur before every public-facing detail is available.

Recheck spelling, hyphenation, aliases or former legal names. A search mismatch does not establish that the person was never booked.

Pima County Jail Bond and Release Information
Pima County Sheriff currently accepts bail bonds through the Inmate Accounts Office at the main Adult Detention Complex, 1270 W. Silverlake Road.

The Sheriff says most bond transactions are processed within about an hour, but that is not a release-time guarantee. A person being bonded out may take up to five hours to complete release processing.

Which Pima County Court Search Should You Use?
The correct court depends on the case. Do not treat the Sheriff’s inmate lookup as a substitute for the court docket.
Felony and Superior Court Records
Arizona eAccess provides public civil and criminal Superior Court records. For Pima County criminal cases, eAccess covers cases filed on or after July 1, 2015, subject to sealed and restricted-record rules.
Pima Consolidated Justice Court
The Justice Court offers its own public case search by name, case number or complaint number. Its site notes that felony cases and certain other case categories are not available there.
Tucson City Court
For cases filed in Tucson City Court, use the City’s defendant search. Search options include name, docket number and citation number.
Initial Appearance and Release Processing
The Sheriff currently says jail initial appearances are conducted by video twice each day, with morning court at 9:00 AM and evening court at 7:00 PM. A person ordered released at video court is processed after the court session, and release processing can take up to five hours.
Pima County Jail Video Visitation
All personal visits are currently conducted by video. An incarcerated person becomes eligible for visitation after the first court appearance and assignment to a permanent housing unit.
One 30-Minute Visit
The Sheriff currently provides one free 30-minute on-site video visit per inmate each week.

Additional on-site video visitation is currently listed at $9 for 30 minutes per inmate, per day.
$0.25 per Minute
Remote GettingOut video visits currently cost $0.25 per minute and can last up to 15 minutes at a time.
Up to Four People
No more than four people may participate in a visit at one time. Juveniles must be accompanied by an adult.
- On-site visits must be scheduled in advance; same-day walk-ins are not accepted.
- The detailed visitation page currently states on-site scheduling is one to seven days in advance.
- On-site visitors report to the Main Jail Front Desk at 1270 W. Silverlake Road about 15 minutes before the visit.

Pima County Jail Mail, Postcards and E-Messages
Postal Mail
The Sheriff publishes specific mail rules for PCADC. Personal mail must use the U.S. Postal Service. Postcards may be no larger than 4.25 by 6 inches.
- Postcards cannot be defaced, altered or wrapped in plastic.
- Glitter is prohibited.
- Material containing explicit sexual content, weapons or gang references is prohibited.
- Incoming postcards are copied; the incarcerated person receives the copy rather than the original.
- The Sheriff states originals are destroyed after 14 calendar days.
- Postal services operate Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
- Books, magazines and newspapers must come directly from a publisher or widely accepted distributor.
- Packages generally require authorization obtained at least five days before sending.
- Letters written with gel pens are not accepted.
Mailing Address
When the envelope contains an acceptable money order or government check, the Sheriff instructs senders to include “Inmate Trust Account” in the address. Do not put a personal letter in the same envelope as an account deposit; the Sheriff says other enclosed mail will be returned.
Electronic Messages
The Sheriff currently uses ConnectNetwork for inmate e-messages. The published rule allows messages up to 2,000 characters. The Sheriff’s current page lists a price of $0.25 per e-message, with optional photo or short-video attachments carrying separate charges.

The Sheriff’s Inmate Accounts Office handles deposits at the main jail. Current published rules distinguish inmate-account deposits from bond payments.

Inmate Phone Calls and Voicemail
Pima County Sheriff currently uses GTL AdvancePay / ConnectNetwork for inmate phone service. A prepaid AdvancePay account must have enough funds for a call to connect.
Funding Phone Calls
The Sheriff says you need the inmate’s nine-digit PIN. The PIN is created by adding leading zeros to the inmate’s name number until it reaches nine digits.

GettingOut Tablets and Remote Communication
Pima County Sheriff says ViaPath/GTL GettingOut tablets are available at the Adult Detention Complex for communication, educational material, vocational resources and multimedia services.

An incarcerated person can initiate a remote video visit through the tablet’s GettingOut Visit Now service. Friends and family need the GettingOut Visits app and an appropriate account.
Messages
Tablet messaging provides another communication route in addition to postal mail. Account credits and current feature prices should be confirmed directly in the provider system.

Inmate Property Release and Court Clothing
Stored inmate property can be released to someone outside the jail, but the incarcerated person must first authorize the release by submitting an Inmate Property Transaction form. Only the person named on that form may collect it.

- Property pickup is at the Main Jail Complex property area.
- The Sheriff currently lists public pickup Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM.
- Property pickup is closed on weekends and holidays.

Court Clothing
An inmate with an active Superior Court trial may have up to three sets of court clothing. The Sheriff uses like-for-like exchanges—for example, one shirt for another shirt. Shoelaces, neckties, belts and underclothing or stockings are not accepted.

Restricted Jail Records
Medical records, security video, visitation video and telephone recordings can require additional authorization. The Sheriff states that medical records are retained for six years and require an appropriate signed Release of Information. Security video, visitation video and telephone recordings require a subpoena or other court order under the published rules.

Victim Release Notification After an Arizona State-Prison Sentence
Victim notification after an Arizona state-prison sentence is handled through Arizona’s post-conviction victim-services process rather than the Pima County inmate lookup.
ADCRR says eligible victims who want post-conviction notifications should complete the Post-Conviction Notification Request supplied through the victim-services office connected with the prosecution. ADCRR’s Office of Victim Support and Engagement then provides applicable release and other post-conviction notifications after receiving the request.
