AZ County Jail Inmate Search 2026: Arizona Jail & DOC Lookup

Arizona • Independent county jail & state prison lookup guide

Choose the Right Arizona Inmate Search Before You Search a Name

Arizona does not have one public database covering every county jail, city holding facility and state prison. A recent local arrest usually belongs with the county sheriff, while a person serving an Arizona state-prison sentence belongs in the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry system.

Online county access also varies. Some Arizona sheriffs publish a live roster, some require a phone call, and some have restricted or disabled public search tools after recent court rulings.

Independent guide: JailInmateSearches.org is not the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry, an Arizona sheriff’s office, county jail, court, prosecutor, VINELink, BOP, ICE, Securus, JPay, Keefe or GTL. Custody, charges, release conditions, bond, housing and jail rules can change. Verify current information through the linked official source before paying, travelling, mailing anything or making an important decision. An arrest, jail listing, charge, booking entry or photograph does not establish guilt or conviction.

Fast Answer

For an AZ county jail inmate search, first identify the Arizona county connected with the arrest. Then use that county sheriff or detention authority’s current lookup method. Do not assume every Arizona county has a public online roster.

For a person in an Arizona state prison, use the official ADCRR Inmate Data Search. ADCRR warns that release dates and release types shown in its public data have not been verified or audited and can change.

Arizona County Jail Search Availability Is Not Uniform

Arizona county jail access changed significantly after litigation concerning publication of pretrial detainee photographs and identifying information. Do not assume that an old “inmate search” bookmark still works or that a missing online roster means the county stopped providing inmate information entirely.

Maricopa County: Do Not Assume One Jail Building

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office operates a multi-jail system. Its current jail directory includes facilities such as Towers Jail, and the county’s Intake, Transfer and Release facility handles centralized booking/release functions within the wider jail system.

How to Search an Arizona County Jail Correctly

  1. Identify the arrest county. Use where the arrest or receiving jail is located—not automatically the person’s home address.
  2. Open the official Sheriff or county detention website. Avoid scraped mugshot directories and paid people-search sites.
  3. Check whether online search is currently offered. In Arizona, some counties now use phone or press-release routes instead.
  4. Search the legal name or booking identifier. Use whatever fields the county currently provides.
  5. Compare more than a name. Match booking date, facility, age/DOB clue, charges or other legitimate identifiers.
  6. Save the booking number. County jail services often need it for visits, phone, mail, money or bond questions.
  7. Confirm current custody. A historical booking or old screenshot is not proof the person remains jailed.
  8. Use the court separately. Booking charges and jail status do not replace the criminal court record.
  9. Open current service pages before paying or travelling. Vendors, fees, mail addresses and visit schedules can change independently.

Why Some Arizona Jail Rosters and Mugshot Searches Changed

Arizona county access changed after federal litigation involving Maricopa County’s publication of booking photographs and personal information about pretrial detainees.

Practical effect: do not interpret a disabled mugshot or inmate-search page as proof that a county no longer maintains inmate information. Pinal and Mohave have publicly referenced the litigation when changing online access, while other counties continue to use different roster models.

The safest workflow is therefore official county page → current lookup if offered → official phone fallback, rather than bookmarking one third-party statewide roster.

Arizona State Prison Search: ADCRR Inmate Data Search

Use ADCRR only when the person is in Arizona state correctional custody or the question concerns an ADCRR inmate record.

State custody

ADCRR Inmate Data Search

This is the official Arizona state corrections search. It is separate from Maricopa, Pima, Pinal, Yavapai, Coconino, Mohave and other county jail systems.

Release dates

Verify Before Relying

ADCRR explicitly warns that release dates and release types shown in the public system have not been verified or audited and are subject to change.

Offense details

Court File Controls

ADCRR directs users seeking offense details to the case file maintained by the Clerk of the Court where the matter was adjudicated.

Important ADCRR restriction: ADCRR says copies of other inmates’ prison-record information downloaded from the public Inmate Data Search should not be mailed into a prison to an incarcerated person because such material can be treated as contraband under Arizona law.

Why an Arizona Inmate Search May Show No Result

Fresh Arrest

The person may still be in transport, booking, fingerprinting, medical intake or court processing.

Wrong County

The arresting city, warrant county and receiving jail are not always the same jurisdiction.

Roster Restricted

The county may have disabled or changed its public inmate-search tool.

Transferred

The person may have moved to ADCRR, another county, federal custody, immigration detention or release processing.

  1. Recheck the full legal name and spelling.
  2. Use a booking or inmate number when available.
  3. Confirm the correct Arizona county.
  4. Look for a county phone fallback if no web roster exists.
  5. Check the Arizona court record for recent hearings or release orders.
  6. Use ADCRR after a state-prison transfer.
  7. Use BOP for federal custody.
  8. Use ICE only when immigration detention is the correct system.
No result does not prove release, innocence, no arrest or no case. It only means the search source you checked did not return the expected current record.

Arizona Criminal Court Records After a Jail Search

A jail roster answers a custody question. The Arizona court system answers a case question.

Case status

Public Access to Court Information

Arizona Judicial Branch Public Access currently provides case information from 177 of 184 courts.

The system states that information is updated weekly, generally each Friday to reflect case information through the preceding Wednesday.

Open Arizona Case Search ↗

Superior Court documents

Arizona eAccess

eAccess provides many Superior Court criminal and civil records filed from July 1, 2010 onward. For Pima criminal matters, online eAccess coverage generally starts July 1, 2015.

The service currently says its data may update about every two hours.

Open Arizona eAccess ↗

Neither online system is the official court record. Arizona tells users to verify important case information with the court of record or county Clerk of Superior Court. eAccess also does not provide justice-court or municipal-court records.

Arizona Bond and Release Rules Are Local and Case-Specific

Do not apply one Arizona county’s bond process to another county. The Sheriff, jail, justice court, municipal court or Superior Court handling the case may control different parts of release.

1

Confirm Current Custody

Verify the correct person, booking number and jail before discussing money.

2

Check the Court Order

Confirm bond/release conditions with the official jail and court instead of relying on an old screenshot.

3

Check Holds

Another warrant, detainer, probation matter, no-bond order or separate case can affect release.

Do not send money because of an unsolicited call or text. Verify the jail, defendant, booking number, case and approved payment route through official county/court sources first.

Arizona State Prison Visitation

These rules apply to ADCRR state-prison visitation, not automatically to county jails.

Application

Approval Required

Prospective visitors must submit an ADCRR visitation/phone application and pass the applicable screening process.

Adult fee

$25 Background Check

ADCRR currently lists a one-time non-refundable $25 background-check fee for adult applicants seeking in-person/video visitation privileges, subject to listed exemptions.

Processing

Allow Up to 60 Days

ADCRR asks applicants to allow up to 60 days once required payment and supporting documentation have been received.

Phone only

No $25 Fee

People applying only for phone privileges do not currently pay the $25 visitation background-check fee.

Open ADCRR Visitation ↗

County jail visitation is completely separate. For example, Coconino currently uses video visitation and Mohave uses NCIC; those rules should never be copied statewide.

Arizona State Prison Mail Changed in 2025–2026

Personal Mail

ADCRR moved ordinary incoming personal mail to a digital-processing model effective December 15, 2025.

Mail is scanned in color and delivered through the incarcerated person’s secure tablet. If a tablet is unavailable or malfunctioning, ADCRR says it provides kiosk access or a black-and-white print.

Ordinary mail sent directly to the prison complex instead of the Digital Processing Center can be returned to the sender.

Legal Mail — Current July 2026 Rule

Effective July 13, 2026, ADCRR centralizes qualifying legal mail at this Phoenix address. Attorneys and licensed Arizona Legal Paraprofessionals follow the Department’s current registration/barcode process; judges and courts are treated differently under the July 10 update.

Packages, publications, official government mail and documents requiring signature/notary services use separate current routing rules. Check the ADCRR mail table before sending anything other than ordinary personal correspondence.

Arizona State Prison Inmate Deposits

ADCRR currently supports electronic inmate deposits through multiple approved providers.

Keefe

Electronic and supported walk-up deposit options are available under ADCRR’s current vendor program.

JPay

ADCRR currently lists JPay for internet/mobile, telephone and participating storefront transactions.

GTL

GTL is also listed as an approved electronic deposit provider, including supported walk-up routes.

Do not mail a normal personal check or money order to a prison for an inmate-account deposit. ADCRR’s inmate-specific guidance directs family/friend deposits through its electronic vendor system rather than ordinary mailed personal payment instruments.

Personal Allowed Number List

Effective February 15, 2026, ADCRR reestablished a Personal Allowed Number list. Inmates can generally have up to 20 approved people associated with the calling list, subject to Department rules and exceptions.

Call quantity depends on custody and Earned Incentive phase. ADCRR’s current 2026 table ranges from limited daily 15-minute calls in higher-security/detention settings to broader privileges in eligible lower-custody phases.

All normal ADCRR calls remain subject to monitoring and recording under Department policy. Legal counsel should use the facility’s privileged-communication process rather than ordinary family calling.

Arizona Victim Custody Notifications

Arizona notification depends on whether the person is still in county jail or has entered post-conviction ADCRR custody.

AZ County Jail Inmate Search FAQs

Does Arizona have one statewide county jail inmate search?

No. Arizona county jails are managed locally, primarily by county sheriffs, and public access differs by county. Use the responsible county source for a recent arrest and ADCRR only for Arizona state-prison custody.

What is the official Arizona state-prison inmate search?

The official state correctional search is the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry Inmate Data Search.

Why can’t I find someone on an Arizona county jail website?

The person may still be processing, may be in another county or city facility, may have transferred, or the county may not publish an online roster. Coconino uses phone-based inmate information and Mohave currently says its public search has been turned off.

Is the Pinal County inmate search online?

Pinal County’s official sources currently show conflicting status: its county information page says the public search was paused following court rulings, while an official search endpoint has recently continued responding. If the online result is unavailable or unclear, call Jail Inmate Information at 520-213-8553.

Does Pima County have an online inmate roster?

Yes. Pima County Sheriff currently provides an inmate lookup for people in the custody of the Pima County Adult Detention Center.

Does Coconino County publish inmates online?

No. Coconino County Sheriff currently states that inmates are not listed on its website. Call 928-226-5200 for the Flagstaff detention facility or 928-645-8873 for the Page facility.

Can I rely on an ADCRR projected release date?

ADCRR expressly warns that release dates and release types displayed through its public Inmate Data Search have not been verified or audited and are subject to change.

Where does ordinary mail for an Arizona state prisoner go?

Under the current ADCRR digital-mail system, ordinary personal mail is sent to PO Box 211309, Dallas, TX 75211, with the incarcerated person’s full name, ADCRR number, prison complex and assigned unit.

How do I send money to an Arizona state prisoner?

ADCRR currently supports electronic deposits through Keefe, JPay and GTL. Check the current Department fee table immediately before making a transfer.

Where do I find the Arizona criminal court case after locating someone in jail?

Use Arizona Judicial Branch Public Access for participating-court case information and eAccess for eligible Superior Court records and documents. Both services warn that online information is not the official court record, so important information should be verified with the court or clerk.
