Booking and Magistration
Irving defines booking as the administrative process that documents a person’s entry into jail. Staff collect identifying and arrest information, inventory personal property, take a photograph and obtain fingerprints.
Magistration is the formal meeting where a judge advises the prisoner of the charges and rights and sets or communicates the bond. If the Person Later Enters Texas State Custody
