Henry County Jail Inmate Search: Verify McDonough Custody Before You Act

Use the Henry County Sheriff’s official inmate database for people currently in county custody. The public system can show custody, listed criminal charges and bond information.

After finding the correct person, use separate HCSO services for bond, visitation, mail, money, calls, medical information and property—and Georgia court or state-correctional systems when the question moves beyond county-jail custody.

Custody, charges, bond information, court status and jail rules can change. Verify current information through the linked official source before paying, mailing, visiting or travelling. An arrest, booking, jail listing, charge or booking photo does not establish guilt or conviction.

Fast Answer

Use the Henry County Sheriff’s official inmate database first. HCSO says the database is available to the public to search people in custody and review their listed criminal charges and bond information.

Henry County Jail is a local pretrial detention system, not the Georgia Department of Corrections. A recent McDonough, Stockbridge, Hampton or Locust Grove arrest should normally be checked with HCSO before using the GDC state-prison search.

Which Henry County Search Source Should You Use?

This helper does not query the sheriff, jail, court, GDC, BOP or VINE databases. It only points you to the source that matches your task.

Select a task above

The recommended official source will appear here.

  1. Start on the HCSO inmate-search page. It links directly to the county inmate inquiry database and carries the Sheriff’s current payment-scam warning.
  2. Search the legal name. Use the spelling that would appear in a booking record rather than a nickname.
  3. Compare the returned identifiers. Use the displayed name, custody details, PIN or other official identifiers available in the record to reduce same-name mistakes.
  4. Review charges carefully. A jail charge is an allegation or booking record, not a final finding of guilt.
  5. Check visible bond information. Then verify the exact bond requirements with HCSO before paying anyone.
  6. Use the court separately. The jail database answers custody questions; the appropriate Henry County court answers filing, hearing and disposition questions.
  7. Recheck before acting. Transfers, releases, holds and facility assignments can change after an earlier search.
If the direct database does not load: use the Sheriff’s inmate-search page above and select its Inmate Search link. The direct inquiry system can block automated or unsupported access even when the public-facing sheriff page remains available.

How to Avoid Matching the Wrong Henry County Inmate

Detail Why it helps What not to conclude
Full legal name Basic identity match in the county search. A common-name match is automatically the right person.
PIN / inmate identifier Useful for mail, photographs, accounts and facility services. It is a court case number.
Booking / custody status Helps connect the result to the current detention period. An older entry proves present custody.
Listed charge Helps compare jail information with the criminal case. The charge is a conviction or final disposition.
Bond information Can indicate a current release condition. Paying one displayed amount guarantees immediate release.
Arrest ≠ conviction. Charges may be amended, dismissed, reduced, superseded or resolved differently in court. Use the court record for final case status.

What to Do if the Henry County Inmate Search Shows No Result

New arrest

Booking May Still Be Processing

Transport, fingerprinting, medical screening, classification and database entry can occur before the public search becomes useful.

Search issue

Recheck the Name

Try the legal surname without extra filters, then use a reliable identifier when available.

Transfer

County vs State Custody

A person can leave local jail custody for another county, Georgia DOC custody or another authorized placement.

Juvenile

Separate System

Do not expect juvenile information to appear as an ordinary adult inmate record. Juvenile matters have different privacy and court rules.

  1. Recheck exact name spelling.
  2. Use the HCSO inmate-information line at 770-288-7038 if appropriate.
  3. Confirm the arrest was actually in Henry County, Georgia.
  4. Allow for a recent-booking delay.
  5. Check whether the person was transferred into state custody.
  6. Use the Georgia DOC offender search if a state sentence or transfer is plausible.
  7. Use BOP only when federal custody genuinely applies.
  8. Do not interpret a blank search as proof of release.

Henry County Jail Bond and Release Options

HCSO currently describes four main ways to post an eligible bond: cash, property, transfer property and professional surety. The exact option available depends on the court order, bond type, charge and any other hold.

Bond route Current HCSO guidance Important detail
Cash bond The full bond amount is paid, plus a non-refundable $20 fee for each bond written. HCSO says the cash bond is refunded after final disposition unless applied toward fines and fees under the selected paperwork.
Debit / credit card HCSO currently links AYTICS for 24-hour card payments. The Sheriff’s page states online transactions incur an additional 10% service fee.
Henry County property bond Qualifying Henry County real property may be used if sufficient clear equity exists. HCSO requires enough unencumbered equity to cover twice the bond amount.
Transfer property bond Georgia property outside Henry County may be processed first through the sheriff in the county where the property sits. The sealed transfer-bond paperwork must then be delivered to Henry County Jail; HCSO says opened or tampered envelopes will not be accepted.
Professional surety bond A state-licensed bonding company approved by HCSO may post the bond. The sheriff currently states these companies charge a non-refundable statutory fee of about 12%–15%.

Property Bond Documents

For a Henry County property bond, HCSO currently asks for the original Warranty or Security Deed, any applicable Quit Claim Deed, a current property-tax statement and, when useful, the most recent mortgage statement. Everyone named on the deed or tax statement must be present to sign. A certified death certificate is required when a named owner is deceased.

One bond does not guarantee release. Other warrants, holds, detainers, cases or court orders can delay or prevent release. Verify the complete custody situation with HCSO and the court.

Henry County Bond and Inmate Payment Scam Warning

HCSO currently has a prominent scam alert for fraudulent inmate-information and bond-payment demands.

The Sheriff’s Office says it will never demand payment by phone, text, email or social media. HCSO also says it does not accept gift cards, cryptocurrency, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo or similar third-party payment apps for these demands.

Stop and Verify When Someone:

  • claims an inmate will remain jailed unless you pay immediately;
  • pretends to be a deputy, court employee or bonding official;
  • asks you to send a gift card or cryptocurrency;
  • requests payment through Cash App, Zelle or Venmo;
  • asks for banking or card details through an unsolicited message;
  • creates urgency or threatens arrest or additional consequences.

If you receive a suspicious Henry County jail or bond demand, verify independently through HCSO at 770-288-7100.

Henry County Jail Mail, Legal Mail and Photographs

Henry County does not use ordinary envelope letters for general personal correspondence. HCSO currently accepts only qualifying pre-stamped or metered white postcards for ordinary incoming mail, with separate exceptions for legal mail, money orders and photographs.

Books and Publications

Soft-cover books must be purchased and shipped directly from a publisher or bookstore. HCSO limits possession to three books at one time, including puzzle books obtained through commissary. Periodicals normally require the inmate to obtain approval before a subscription is ordered.

Henry County Jail Inmate Search FAQs

What is the official Henry County Jail inmate search?

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office links a public inmate inquiry database from its official Inmate Search page. HCSO says the tool can be used to search people in custody and review listed charges and bond information.

Which Henry County is this page about?

This guide covers Henry County, Georgia, including the county jail system in McDonough. It does not cover Henry counties in Indiana, Missouri, Alabama, Illinois, Virginia or other states.

What number do I call for Henry County inmate information?

The Henry County Sheriff’s current contact page lists 770-288-7038 for inmate information and 770-288-7100 as the main office number.

Why does the Henry County inmate search show no result?

The booking may still be processing, the name may not match, the person may have been released or transferred, another county may have custody, or Georgia state or federal custody may now apply. A blank result does not by itself prove release.

How much is the Henry County bond fee?

HCSO currently states that a non-refundable $20 fee applies to each bond written. Other costs depend on the bond method; for example, the Sheriff’s currently listed online card option carries an additional service fee.

Can I pay a Henry County Jail bond through Cash App or Zelle?

No. The Sheriff’s current scam warning says HCSO does not accept bond or inmate-service payments through gift cards, cryptocurrency, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo or similar third-party payment apps in response to payment demands.

How do I schedule a Henry County Jail visit?

HCSO currently uses ICSolutions technology with JailATM for advance scheduling of remote video and on-site visitation. Visitors must follow the posted identification, check-in, dress and conduct requirements.

Can I mail a normal letter to a Henry County Jail inmate?

For ordinary personal correspondence, HCSO currently accepts qualifying white pre-stamped or metered postcards rather than ordinary letters. Legal mail, photographs and money orders have separate procedures.

How do I send money to a Henry County inmate?

HCSO currently uses Access Corrections for electronic inmate-account deposits. The Sheriff’s account page also lists lobby kiosk, CashPay Today and telephone deposit options, with current deposit and account-balance limits.

How do I find someone transferred from Henry County Jail to state prison?

Use the Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender system when there is a genuine reason to believe the person has entered state correctional custody. County jail and GDC records are separate systems.

Final Henry County Verification Checklist

  • Confirm this is Henry County, Georgia.
  • Start with the Henry County Sheriff inmate database for recent county custody.
  • Match more than a common name when additional identifiers are available.
  • Use the court separately for filed charges, hearings and disposition.
  • Verify the full bond situation before paying.
  • Ignore unsolicited gift-card, crypto, Cash App, Zelle or Venmo payment demands.
  • Recheck current custody before scheduling a visit.
  • Use postcard rules for ordinary inmate mail.
  • Use the separate HCSO procedure for photos, legal mail and money orders.
  • Confirm the inmate account is below the current deposit threshold before troubleshooting a missing online name.
  • Check the 15-day clothing-property deadline when applicable.
  • Use GDC only when state-prison custody has become relevant.
  • Never treat a booking or charge as proof of guilt.
Best workflow: HCSO inmate search → verify the correct person → review the listed charge and bond carefully → check the appropriate Henry County court → confirm current custody → use the official jail service for bond, visits, mail, money or communication → verify again immediately before acting.
